Singapore Math

Primary 1

This course covers the foundational mathematical skills in whole numbers, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, money, measurement, geometry, and basic statistics. Pupils will learn to work with numbers up to 100, understand place value, and apply basic arithmetic operations in simple contexts. The course also introduces early concepts of measurement using standard units, basic time-telling skills, recognition of 2D shapes, and interpretation of simple data using picture graphs.

Objectives

  • Understand and use numbers up to 100, including place value, ordering, and number patterns
  • Perform basic addition and subtraction within 100, and understand simple mental calculation strategies
  • Understand basic concepts of multiplication and division within small number ranges
  • Count and use money in cents and dollars in simple situations
  • Measure and compare length using centimetres, and tell time in 5-minute intervals
  • Identify, describe, and use basic 2D shapes in simple constructions
  • Read and interpret simple picture graphs to understand data
